The stainless steel springs and hardware are rust-resistant. Sand, dirt and other debris get flushed out in water. A snap clip attaches to a D-ring, webbing strap or belt loop. Use the threaded pin to attach it to a compass, flashlight or console. When you need to use it, simply pull the retractable nylon line.
