A console dive computer is usually less expensive than a wrist-mounted dive computer, and allows you to check your depth, dive time, bearing (with a compass), and remaining tank time - with a single glance. You don't have to worry about dropping your dive computer in a moment of distraction. Unfortunately, divers do drop their wrist computers sometimes. You don't run the risk of forgetting your console dive computer at home or on the boat - because it's attached to your tank. When properly attached to your BCD and stowed away, you'll enjoy a streamlined profile and virtually eliminate any concern of entanglement with its LP hose. You'll have more real estate available on your wrist for strapping on a dive knife, a light, a slate, or anything else you want to keep handy.
